When I started lifting, my coach had me keep one of these: a paper journal, logging every session and every set. But then my gym moved, but my journal didn't move with it. All that training data, lost.
But even if I hadn't lost my journal, my data was kind of trapped in there, so I couldn't learn anything from it. So I started logging my workouts in an app. But apps have their own problems. You have to do a bunch of typing and switch to the calculator app to figure out your weights. It's just kind of a pain. I wanted a way to log my training without spending half of my workout doing data entry, and I didn't want my data trapped in an app that was tied to one program. That's why I built Repcast.
Repcast is a program-aware training log. It can import your program from pretty much any source, and it has a program editor where coaches can create and publish programs. Repcast understands strength programming: percentages, RPE, exercise variation. It does the math and the typing for you, so you can actually focus on your training.
When you open the app, your next workout is waiting for you. Your sets are populated. If they're based on percentages, your weights are already there for you. No calculator app. Need to adjust something? Do it in a few taps. Your coach gave you a choice of exercises? One tap. When you finish your workout, Repcast gives you insights that you can't get anywhere else: PRs across rep ranges and time horizons, trends in volume, and Impulse, Repcast's proprietary method of tracking your training load, relative strength, and readiness to PR.
Repcast is in beta right now. If you're a lifter following a program, or a coach who writes programs for athletes, I'd love for you to try it and tell me what you think. Sign up for the beta at repcast.io.
